impact on children with physical and intellectual disabilities

National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026

Submission 4020

I am a primary school teacher with over 25 years’ experience working in Victoria’s state primary schools.

I am writing to strongly oppose the NDIS Future Generations Bill 2026 as it has been presented in Parliament.

Please refrain from passing the NDIS Amendment Bill in its present form. It eliminates rights, diminishes choices and autonomy, and poses risks to individuals living with disabilities.

This legislation would negatively impact students whom I instruct, along with close acquaintances who provide support to young people facing significant physical and cognitive challenges.

A true indicator of societal progress lies in how we extend our empathy towards those among us who are most susceptible. Imposing stricter conditions on NDIs for households that have already taken upon themselves the considerable responsibility of caring for their loved ones requiring assistance does not align with Australia’s values. Demonstrate kindness and revise this proposal.
