Supports enabling a nephew to build life skills

National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026

Submission 4030

To the Committee,

My name is and I am writing to oppose the proposed NDIS Amendment Bill.

I am the aunt of a young boy who receives support through the NDIS.

As my nephew’s aunty, I have watched him work hard to overcome challenges that many children never have to think about. I have also seen how much of a difference the right support can make.

What worries me most is the future.

Every child deserves the chance to learn, grow and become as independent as possible. The therapies and supports my nephew receives are helping him build skills now that will benefit him for the rest of his life.

Without these supports, children can fall behind, not because they aren’t capable, but because they haven’t been given the help they need to succeed.

The NDIS is not just about supporting people today. It is about giving children the best possible chance of becoming independent, contributing members of their communities in the future.

I have watched my nephew make progress over the years and I want him to continue having those opportunities.

Please do not take away the supports that help children like him build a better future.

Yours sincerely,
