Access to speech pathology and workplace training as an NDIS participant

National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026

Submission 4033

To whom it may concern,

Hello my name is and I’ve been an NDIS participant for the last two years. From what I understand a recently proposed bill has the potential to severely limit the NDIS services me and other disabled people have access to. As such I feel personally and morally required to speak up against this.

I grew up unaware of my disabilities (Generalised Anxiety and ASD level 2) only being diagnosed and gaining access to support services like the NDIS as an adult. However despite my relatively late introduction to the service I’ve already felt numerous benefits from my inclusion. I have accessed speech pathology services which have helped me manage my selective mutism as well as more broadly helping me to navigate social situations. I’ve accessed workplace training programs that have helped prepare me for future career prospects by providing me with valuable experience and even a modest salary (frankly a godsend for someone like me with barriers to work, especially during a cost of living crisis). Many of my friends too participate in the NDIS and greatly benefit from its services. Whether that be through support workers helping them manage the complexities of daily living or through transport supports helping them with mobility difficulties, all of them attest to help it has provided them.

Even moving beyond my immediate circle I would argue that support for marginalised communities such as the disabled is core to a healthy society. Surely the first responsibility of any government is to ensure the well-being of its citizens. The simple fact is that thousands of participants of the NDIS benefit just as much if not more than I do from its services. To strip any of them of these benefits is not only politically but morally wrong

Thank you for your time.
