National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026

Submission on the NDIS Amendment Bill

7/7/2026

to whom it may concern,

my name is and i am a disability support worker.

i am writing to request the government withdraw the ndis amendment bill. i am deeply concerned about the potential impacts the proposed amendments will have on my clients and on me as a worker.

the clients i work with depend on daily care from support workers. This work is supported by ndis funding. Without this financial support my clients could not afford the essential care they depend on to survive.

I am worried that the proposed amendments will reduce or completely cut the funding my clients receive. These amendments include the potential introduction of more structured or restricted assessment and reassessment processes and the use of automated systems to make decisions about complex and nuanced personal circumstances. Cuts to funding incurred by these changes may mean that my clients are forced to significantly reduce the hours of care they receive, meaning that their ability to tend to their basic needs is curtailed or severely restricted. This will result in the worsening of my clients’ conditions, significantly reducing their quality of life. In some instances this may result in their premature and avoidable deaths.

I am also concerned about the extra administrative burdens put on NDIS recipients these amendments may incur. Some of my clients are severely limited in their energy and cognitive abilities due to their illnesses and disabilities. Expecting them to do more administrative work so that they can receive and maintain funding they rely on is unfair and unrealistic. In some cases, my clients will not be able to meet these additional requirements and so will have their funding cut.

As a worker I am also concerned that the proposed amendments will have a deleterious impact on my safety and wellbeing in the workplace. If my clients’ funding is reduced or cut this will mean that the resources they have will be stretched, placing greater pressure on me to meet the needs of my clients that were previously attended to by a greater number of carers. If the physical and emotional well-being of my clients declines due to cuts in their ndis funding this will make the work i do more strenuous and stressful. I will be working in a smaller team of carers, making it harder for me to get the rest i need to be an effective carer. If there is not enough funding for me to be paid I will need to find alternative employment, further isolating the clients I work with.

National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026

Submission 4049

I want the committee to understand that these proposed amendments will have negative consequences on chronically ill and disabled people and on disability support workers. These consequences include NDIS recipients receiving less of the essential support they rely on to survive. And it will make the workplace less safe for support workers.

I request that the needs of chronically ill and disabled peoples and the workers that support them are prioritised and protected, and that the Government withdraw the NDIS Amendment Bill.

Faithfully,
