RE: NDIS inquiry

To whom it may concern,

My name is , I am writing to you to share my experience with NDIS and how it has negatively affected every part of my life and support regarding my current NDIS plan. I am 26 years old and live with two approved and diagnosed disabilities: an intellectual disability and schizophrenia.

I grew up in a culture where disability was treated as taboo and a source of embarrassment. Because of this, I did not receive the early intervention that would have improved my condition. Throughout my schooling years, I was severely bullied due to my disability, which caused long‑lasting emotional harm. This pattern continued into adulthood, where I experienced bullying in the workplace, creating further trauma and significantly impacting my ability to maintain stable employment and make or retain friendships.

In my early twenties, I was formally diagnosed with schizophrenia, a diagnosis that brought immense emotional distress. I have struggled deeply with feelings of having disappointed and shamed my family, and this has contributed to ongoing mental health challenges.

Recently, a second disability was added to my NDIS plan, yet despite now having two disabilities, the review process somehow resulted in my funding being reduced. I cannot express how distressing it was to receive this news. This reduction includes the loss of my Support Coordinator who is vital to the management of my supports; I can’t navigate the NDIS system as well as manage the various supports and therapies I need so badly. Due to my disabilities, the responsibility of managing this process independently, and the complete lack of guidance and/or advocacy has left me overwhelmed and unsupported.

A significant portion of my previous funding was spent on reports requested by the NDIS. Once submitted, I was told that these reports were “insufficient” or “missing key information”. How can I take any action to this response? What does that mean? In the reduction of my funds, I now no longer have any resources to have new reports written or old ones changed.

As a result of these losses, I am currently experiencing severe depression, feelings of worthlessness, isolation, and abandonment. I require assistance with cooking, cleaning, community access, social interaction, attending appointments, and ongoing therapy. Without these supports, my wellbeing continues to decline.

I am deeply struggling due to the fact i have insufficient supports and I have no clue how to change that.

Thank you for taking the time to hopefully understand the seriousness of my situation.

Sincerely,
