National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026

Submission 4056

RE: NDIS inquiry

to whom it may concern,

i am writing about my ndis support’s for a submission. Due to my intellectual

disability, i rely heavily on funded assistance to manage my daily life, my health,

and my ability to participate in the community. These supports are essential for my

wellbeing, and without them, i am unable to function safely or independently.

i am an ndis participant, and i require ongoing support to manage the health

issues directly related to my disability. these supports are critical to maintaining my

stability and preventing further decline. they are not optional — they are necessary

for me to live with any sense of security or quality of life.

i also need assistance to build a circle of friends and maintain social interaction.

because of my disability, i cannot achieve this on my own. Without support, i have

become isolated, and i have lost the social connection that is vital for my emotional

wellbeing and sense of belonging.

The recent reduction in my funding has had a severe and harmful impact. I am no

longer able to participate in the therapies i need for my disability. One of the most

significant losses has been speech therapy. I require speech therapy to

communicate effectively, but due to the lack of funding, i cannot access this therapy

at all. This has caused a noticeable decline in my communication skills and has

made everyday interactions much more difficult and distressing. I need personal

support too. I have issues managing money and have had the main responsibility

handed to the Trustee who pays my bills and gives me pocket money. I also have

difficulties with healthy eating and exercise routines. My support workers try the

best they can but I need more Dietician support as I can’t make good food choices.

I also require regular access to a psychologist. Because of my disability, I rely

heavily on my partner and my best friend to talk about issues that arise, but this is

not sustainable or appropriate. I need professional support to manage my mental

health, process challenges, and prevent emotional overwhelm. Without

psychological support, I am left without a safe outlet or guidance.

Without these supports, my mental health deteriorates rapidly. I feel depressed, unmotivated, isolated, and hopeless. The absence of essential therapies and social support’s leaves me struggling every day, and I am unable to cope with the challenges of my disability on my own. The impact on my wellbeing is serious, ongoing, and deeply distressing.

The support’s I need are fundamental to my health, my communication, my social connection, and my overall quality of life. Without them, I am left in a vulnerable and declining state.

Thank you for taking the time to understand the seriousness of my circumstances. I hope this letter clearly conveys how critical these supports are and the severe impact their absence has on my life.
