National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026
Submission 4064
My name is Dianne Richardson and I am a parent and carer for my 31 year old autistic son. My son lives with me and requires to support to remain calm at home, and while out to access the community. The NDIS support my son receives allows him to go to work experience 2 days a week, to access therapies and community life.
I oppose the National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026.
The majority of my son’s funding is in the Social and Community Participation line item. A 50% cut would have terrible impact on my son’s life and restrict his ability to have meaningful life. My son deserves to be able to see friends, go to work, and to maintain his health. I am 69 and have serious health issues of my own to manage. I am often too unwell to go out myself. This legislation places more burdens on me and takes away my son’s rights to choice and inclusion.
Please withdraw this bill and talk to people with disability and their carer’s to understand the impact and better ways to save money and create a more efficient and sustainable system. We deserve to be at the centre of the decisions being made that effect our every day lives and risk our health and wellbeing.
