Concerns about NDIS changes impacting people with disabilities and support worker stress

National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026

Submission 4100

To whom it may concern.

I am a support worker and I am very concerned about the proposed changes and budget. The NDIS is a Labour initiative and there are definitely problems that need to be addressed regarding providers taking advantage of the privatised system. I do not see how the proposed cuts will address these issues and furthermore they punish the very people the NDIS is supposed to be for. I am seeing people with varying disabilities speaking out about how these changes will affect them and it’s horrific. Losing funding for feeding guide dogs, no support worker help in the community, no choice over who comes into their homes and assists with PERSONAL care. I am yet to find out how these changes will affect me as a worker but in an already precarious feminised sector I don’t really need the extra stress especially considering I struggle with health conditions myself.

The budget overall is very upsetting. I thought labour were supposed to be more for the people but this is not at all reflected in policy. The budget benefits billionaires, at the expense of the population just as one nation would. Labor has a majority and you still can’t do what is needed ie- taxing fossil fuel companies adequately (gas) ending AUKUS, and using the money for public housing, for people with disability, for paying nurses, for saving the planet.

Jordan Steel John might be a greens senator but he is clearly informed and knowledgeable in the area and a valuable resource please listen to him when it comes to fixing the NDIS.

Thank you for reading, A support worker.
