I am a Support Worker to several NDIS participants who will be impacted severely by the changes imposed by NDIS.
The current changes have caused tremendous anxiety and depression among my participants who have disclosed they may take their life as a result. One has said ‘my life is worthless and I’m not important’.
I obtained my Certificate 3 in Individual Support Disability/ Aged Care in 2025 through TAFE Southport, during my education I come to appreciate the NDIS framework being participant driven, with Standards that are built on the foundation of Human Rights and Equality. However, since these NDIS changes have come about, and being witness to the impacts to my participants, I have lost faith in the NDIS and its ability to carry out its core duty.
I’ve have witnessed the impacts within my workplace where other support workers are more stressed than ever due to their concerns of their participants ability to sustain themselves. The stress among working sta] then impacts on their support care. The overall morale has dropped significantly.
The uncertainty, the ruthlessness and tone of some of these changes is downright disgraceful and inhumane for a country like Australia. The people in our communities who are our most vulnerable are being made to feel like they are a burden.
I am an advocate for my participants and all those people with disability and aged, please I am begging to the decision makers to have a more compassionate approach and one that is not driven against those who legitimately require our supports.
