Submission on the NDIS Amendment Bill

Name:

I am a citizen who cares to see my fellow humans being treated with dignity, with respect, and with empathy.

My main concern about this Bill is:

That we are treating people through the lens of budget costs, as opposed to their actual needs. The budget is all about choices, and I want to see the profligate waste of our tax dollars cease – $300+ billion submarines that we lack the capacity to fully crew, let alone maintain, that have a very real chance of never materialising, and if they do have a very real chance of being rendered obsolete by military advances.

BHP get $622mil p.a. for a diesel subsidy, when they make billion$ in profit every year? And yet the government decides that the real budget squeeze is being caused by the growth of the NDIS. Get real. We have the money to treat all Australian’s with dignity. We simply have to prioritise them.

This Bill may affect me / people I support because:

They will not be afforded the care they need to contribute fully to society. They need our assistance, and we should give it to them. This is about choices, not about budget realities

What I want the committee to understand is:

Help our needy, or indulge yourself. That’s your choice here. To put people who are of the greatest need as our greatest priority.

My position on this Bill:

I do not support it and I have serious concerns.

This will show Australia in a very poor light. A rich country that prioritises ballistic missiles, submarines and corporate handouts over helping our citizens that are in need.

I am reminded of the old Derryn Hinch judgement: Shame, shame, shame.

Sincerely ,
