National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026
Submission 599
Submission on the NDIS Amendment Bill
Name:
I am a:
Family Member, Friend, Community Member
My main concern about this Bill is:
My name is and I am a family member and friend, community member to many people living with disabilities - those on the NDIS and those who are not. I am connected to the issues of the cuts of the NDIS and adjustments to its systems and want to advocate for the end user of the NDIS, those living with disabilities.
When the news came out about major changes, my community that access the already limited funds to live off, while dealing with the devastating realities of their debilitating and life threatening chronic illnesses, they have all gone into such mental duress, some even have had suicidal thoughts as thier situations are already so challenging -finacially, housing, medically, how will they handle more hurdles and what life are they trying to live for?
This Bill may affect me / people I support because:
Challenging people with disabilities with additional hurdles to seek support is causing them mental anguish and suicidal ideations. I have genuine concerns for my loved ones that if we make it even harder for them to access their life saving care and access needs (be that financial or medical so accessibility), which they find challenging currently to access on the NDIS, that they will just give up isolate from community all together for what short lives they have or end their life all together as we as a collective with this bill have made it impossible to simply live with a sense of comfort.
What I want the committee to understand is:
I am imploring you to do your best in reviewing this bill to do right by the most vulnerable people in our society, our most fragile, our most precious and should be most treasured. We live in the ‘Lucky Country’ there has to be another way to find funds for the country that dont involve stripping needs from our sickest most vulnerable.

My position on this Bill:
I do not support it and I have very serious concerns because it will make life saving and supporting services impossible to access and be entirely detrimental to the mental health of those accessing the NDIS - we need to care for our vulnerable, not treat them as a threat or a nuisance.
