National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026

Submission 936

Attention Parliament of Australia

To whom it may concern,

I’m writing this letter as a mother of a child with multiple disabilities who access’s therapy and supports funded by the current NDIS.

The NDIS to this day has been an important and fundamental services to assist my child accessing vital regular supports to participate with daily living, and within our community.

We currently access multiple therapies and supports weekly to assist my child to participate within our community and to develop skills to enjoy a better and more comfortable life due to these disabilities and challenges.

As a mother, as a carer, as an advocate for my child, these proposed NDIS changes are extremely confronting and concerning as they will disrupt our access to supports currently funded by our NDIS plan. Without these core funding elements this puts an enormous financial pressure on myself to come up with the extra money to pay for these supports. Given the current financial circumstances regarding cost of living I am already under constant strain to fulfill basic needs for my child, ie. Food, housing clothing. Quite frankly, I will not be able to pay for these out of my own pocket as I am already working two jobs to keep afloat.

These proposed changes will directly effect the ability to access these fundamental supports for my child for him to actively participate within his community during his lifetime.

National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026

Submission 936

As previously seen in Western Australia a family resorted to taking their own lives as parents and of their children as their NDIS funding was cut. This will be direct result of what will happen if these cuts are made to 160,000 participants. People will loose their lives, or be living in horrific conditions as they will not have the funding supports in place.

Those in ‘power’ do not understand the importance of these daily supports have on individuals living with a disability.

I appose the governments decision to cut NDIS funding to those participating within the NDIS. It is absolutely disgraceful that the government have even considered this.

Kind regards,
