O15 - Which of the above is most in need of immediate action? Disability Service Providers:

There are not enough and mot diverse enough to suit disability needs,
There are limited mental health service providers in the South West that have people trained in mental health.

there is hardly any. The ones that are accessible are from Bunbury and have up to 530 just in transport cost ewery visit

Brunswicks pretty isolated, all health services are minimum 20 minute drive away to get bo Eaton, but more likely you need to go to Bunbury, and Bunbury hes minimal health services, so if you have any complex problems or need crisis care you are in for a rough time.
There is none - Most of the available services are out of town. NOES:
NOS eligibility requirements.
(tis hard to access NOS due to the extensive paperwork and assessments required. Its hard to pet assessed as the initial assessments are expensive if privately arranged.

They need to know too much about my disability, ® NODS is not available in town, need to go to Bunbury for this. tt should be more accessible for PYEryOne.

We live approximately 40 minutes to 2 hours away from larger cities/towns for medical services.

Q18 - What needs to happen to improve the experience of people with disability in your community?

Be treated as an individual.

Provide more actessible services.

Education to reduce stigma, | find once someone knows that | have a mental health disability the

treatment that | recelve changes to little or no respect.

More education te reduce stigma. Increase in respect and consideration for people with disabilities

for instance when | as a Support worker go out with a client, instead of addressing a client directly

people address me. | wish they could just talk to the client directly.

Continued education to create awareness. Government subsidy to provide out of town (and local) transport. Volunteer drivers are already available.

More tolerance, more understanding, basic facilities.

Speaking to those who require accessibility issues to be addressed to gain understanding and being transparent to services available or coming,

Acknowledgement of the responsibility that people within infrastructure meed to support all Vulnerable people ina wholesome way and not just think “too hard basket” or put them in jail but to support them to bead their best life - bottom line 6 to provide positive support to avoid escalation of crime.

There are so many disabilities there is no one solution - different individuals different needs.

Mostly | think patient needs need addressing.

More Understanding of invisible disabilities.

More coordinator support, someane that can speak in their defence if a situation is beyond ones understanding.

The general public needs to adapt their perception of what it means to live with a disability in their community. Disabilities should be considered an asset to employers, not a hindrance.

Education, tolerance, empathy, and understanding all need to be reinforced and promoted. Stigma, lack of education, and intolerance means people with disability often only receive a type of patronising respect (if amy at all), rather than the kind of respect you would expect to receive if you were being viewed as an equal human being.

Collaboration between community and service providers businesses.

Awareness of “their needs in terms of government/agencies acknowledging them with services they can provide.

Easy access everywhere, transport needed and probably more carers needed, A place to meet and talk, have a coffee etc.

Further education needs to be provided to the broader community to destigmatise disabilities and those who possess them. O20 - Miscellaneous Comments

Government needs to do more: increase home care packages. Itis very hard for people with invisible disabilities due to how they are not obvious to others.

There is some support for some disabilities, ’big disabilities’ or medical conditions like cancer pet lots of public and institutional support, meanwhile invisible disabilities! less obvious’ disabilities get less support and services, e.g. dementia.

Hospitals are 50/50, not confident in answering for NDS, H.0.P is 90/50 as the service is fine but the administration around it & quite poor, similar answer for the Health Department,

Medicare, the justice system, and employment supports are all too bureaucratic.
