Concerns about OT report, support coordination hours, and feeling devalued due to disability

NDIS Planning

Submission 130

I had my planning meeting on tuesday 2nd september at 10.30am at NDIS office in wodonga footmark court

My husband and my support coordinator where in attendance with myself.

I felt like i was not important and felt like many times i was being spoken down to.

She was very negative towards the OT report i had from Icaria health. My OT had in the report that i needed a manual wheelchair i was told the quote was very expensive so there will be a very long lengthy wait.

My ot explained to me with my health and needs especially being an amputee that the quote was very reasonable.

I explained i needed more physiotherapy and OT hours as the current plan i had no where near enough.

· was suggested the OT hours in the report was not really needed so was suggested a lot less than requested in her report.

·physio hours would also not be what was requested.

· – suggested i go and purchase a cheap wheelchair to get me through– I felt degraded, that she

suggested I just have a new chair for $600 , I have complex needs and need to make sure I have the correct equipment, so I’m safe at all times.

I am more than happy to have core hours to be cut but not the allied health as these people play an important role in my safety and training of support staff. I need my physio and Ot To meet my goals.

· My main goal is my wellbeing and safety

I also felt she was telling me my husband Chris could help me – i felt she didn’t want listen to me. My husband has major health issues himself.

· Didn’t give us a chance

Every time my support coordinator mentioned she also needed increased hours she was cut off.

I am extremely worried about the support coordination – I really need support coordination as i have been so unwell i need her to help me. This plan she also had no where near enough.

There seemed to be so much negativity towards the OT and her report etc

Also towards my plan manager and support coordinator it was suggested i find some one local to save travel costs (i dont have travel costs from either)

I feel she didn’t listen to hours i needed for the important people I need to help me meet my goals.

I felt like i was being spoken down to.

I came away from the meeting very confused and physically ill.i have had many tears since.

I didn’t feel like i was important because i have a disability.
