Thank you for your letter of 22 December 2016, requesting information on mental health grant funding for community managed organisations in the Northern Territory.
| appreciate your strong interest in this issue.
Due to the timeframes of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) Bilateral Agreement, and at such an early stage of transition of the NDIS in the Northern Territory, the Department of Health has made no determination of what funding will be committed to the NDIS from the current investment in the community managed
mental health sector. | can reassure you that this is a matter under careful
consideration.
The NT Department of Health invests approximately $5 million per annum to the community managed mental health sector:
e individualised psychosocial rehabilitation and day programs. $2 million e residential rehabilitation, supported accommodation
and sub-acute programs $2.7 million e mutual support and self help programs $0.2 million
The NT Department of Health is working closely with the NT Mental Health Coalition,
the NT Primary Health Network, Australian Government Department of Health, and
the Department of Social Services to ensure that people who require services but are not eligible for the NDIS will not be without them.

to the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).
The Tasmanian Government will invest $572 million over the next four years to support the rollout of the NDIS. This is life changing reform, providing people with choice and control around their care needs, and participation in the broader community to achieve their goals and aspirations.
Like other states and territories, Tasmania is transitioning to full rollout of the NDIS. During transition, funding to support people with mental illness who enter the NDIS has been identified as an in-kind contribution. This will enable support for the rollout of the NDIS, and continue to maintain and further develop the Tasmanian mental health service system, consistent with the Rethink Mental Health Plan 2015-2025.
Unfortunately | am not in a position to provide the information you have requested, Work is
currently occurring with the National Disability Insurance Agency to finalise in-kind arrangements.
Establishing appropriate arrangements to support people with mental illness who enter the NDIS is a high priority for the Tasmania Government. During the transition process we are committed to actively engaging with other states and territories to ensure any arrangements put in place in Tasmania take into account lessons learned in other jurisdictions.
In addition to supporting the NDIS, the Tasmanian Government will continue to fund a range of programs and services for people with mental illness.

’ Thank you for your letter of 22 December 2016 regarding a request for ‘ information of the total annual figure the Western Australian Government will ‘commit to funding the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).
As you may be aware, the two trial sites in Western Australia are continuing
through to 30.June 2017. The numbers of eligible participants transitioning to the NDIS are still unknown at this time. As such, we are unable to answer your queries regarding the funding contributions.
Currently, the Commonwealth and Western Australian Governments are proceeding with the final negotiations to deliver a nationally consistent, State run NDIS. Although some elements of the Western Australia delivered NDIS ‘model have been agreed, there are still a number of details that are yet to be determined.
There will be more detailed announcements of the contribution from the Western Australian Government in due course.
Once again, thank you for raising your concerns regarding the State’s NDIS and for advocating for people living with a mental illness.
