Inquiry into the transitional arrangements of the NDIS
Please find attached Anglicare Australia’s two recent submissions to the Productivity Commission’s concurrent inquiry into the NDIS and costs, which contains information pertinent to the above inquiry, particularly in relation to terms of reference (a) and (b) and having regard to matter (v).
We note that our previous submission to this Committee for the inquiry into the provision of NDIS services for people with psychosocial disabilities is also germane.
In addition to the information provided in these submissions, Anglicare Australia network members have particular experience and concerns with the human and financial costs being borne by scheme participants and providers during the transition period as a result of: The lack of clarity around the intersection between mainstream services and the NDIS; The wind-down and abnegation of responsibility by state and territory governments relating to their existing disability services; and The lack of progress on bilateral arrangements and frameworks in relation to thin markets and the provider of last resort, with particular reference to Indigenous remote communities and people with high complex needs.
Anglicare Australia members request the opportunity to present evidence to the Committee on these matters during Committee hearings, to offer insight into the issues and potential ways forward.
