Dear (O)

Freedom of Information request — Notice of Decision

Thank you for your correspondence of 22 August 2026, in which you requested access

under the Freedom of Information Act 1982 (FOI Act) to documents held by the National

Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA).

The purpose of this letter is to provide you with a decision on your request.

Scope of your request

You requested access to the following documents:

Under the FOI Act, I request access to documents that report, for each financial year from 2015-16 to 2025-26, the:

  • total value of all contracts with a value exceeding $10,000; and

  • number of contracts with a value exceeding $10,000.

I also request access to documents that separately report, for each financial year from 2015-16 to 2025-26, the:

  • total value of contracts categorised as Temporary Personnel Services with a value exceeding $10,000;

  • number of contracts categorised as Temporary Personnel Services with a value exceeding $10,000;

  • total value of contracts categorised as Management Advisory Services with a value exceeding $10,000; and

                                                                     1
  • number of contracts categorised as Management Advisory Services with a value

exceeding $10,000.

Extension of time

On 27 August 2026, you agreed to a 30-day extension of time under section 15AA of the FOI

Act, making 21 October 2026 the date by which to provide you with a decision on your

request.

Search efforts

Reasonable searches were conducted of NDIA business systems, using all reasonable

search terms that could return documents relevant to your request. In addition, I have

consulted with relevant NDIA staff in the Procurement Branch who could be reasonably

expected to be able to identify documents within the scope of your request.

As a result of these searches, I have identified that some information relevant to your

request may be contained within existing records. However, no single document contains all

of the information requested. Accordingly, I considered whether a document could be

created under section 17 of the FOI Act to satisfy your request, and have decided that it is

reasonably practicable for us to do so.

Decision on access to documents

I am authorised to make decisions under section 23(1) of the FOI Act.

I have decided to grant access to 1 document in full.

Reasons for decision

In reaching my decision, I have taken into account:

  • your correspondence outlining the scope of your request

  • the nature and content of the documents falling within the scope of your request

  • the FOI Act , including section 17 concerning the creation of a document from

    information held by the NDIA

  • the FOI Guidelines published under section 93A of the FOI Act

  • consultation with relevant NDIA staff and business areas.

                                                                       2

Forms of access

Access to information not available in discrete or written form (section 17)

Section 17(1)(c) of the FOI Act provides that, where information is not available in a discrete

document, an agency may produce a written document containing that information by using

a computer ordinarily available to the agency to retrieve and compile the information.

Following searches and consultation with the relevant business area, I was advised that no

single document contains all of the information sought by your request. However, the

information relevant to your request is held by the NDIA and can be retrieved and compiled

using equipment ordinarily available to the agency.

Accordingly, 1 document was created to record the information requested. I have, therefore,

treated your request as a request for access to that document in accordance with section

17(1)(c)(i) of the FOI Act.

Release of documents

The document for release, as referred to in the schedule of documents at Attachment A, is

enclosed.

Rights of review

Your rights to seek a review of my decision, or lodge a complaint, are set out at

Attachment B.

Should you have any enquiries concerning this matter, please do not hesitate to contact me

by email at foi@ndis.gov.au.

Yours sincerely
