3 Explain a plan change decision

A participant may ask you to explain a decision. This explanation might be about:  an individual plan change request  an overall plan change decision.

You must use the relevant scripting in section Discuss a plan change decision of article Discuss a participant plan change request when contacting the participant or their authorised representative.

Depending on which decision the participant wants more information on, you may need to explain:  why their plan change request wasn’t approved  the decision to vary their plan instead of reassessing their plan  why we didn’t change the fund management decision in their plan  the reasonable and necessary decision relating to their funded supports.

3.1 Explain an overall plan change decision

  1. From the Person Account, select Decisions tab.

  2. Select the relevant Decision Name that you want to explain. The case type associated with the decision will be Plan Change.

Note: This will open a new tab.

  1. Select the Justification Number hyperlink from the Justifications table.

  2. On the Details tab, use the information in the Justification and Description to explain the overall plan change decision.

Note: You are unable to add an explanation to a justification once it has been created.

3.1.1 Record the plan change decision explanation

  1. In the Justification, select the Details tab.

  2. Select the Case hyperlink to go to the case associated with the decision.

  3. Add an activity or internal note about what was discussed with the participant or authorised representative. Go to article Log an activity or internal note.

Note: An internal note or activity can be added to a case at any stage, even if the case is closed.

3.2 Explain a decision on a plan change request

  1. From the Person Account, select Decisions tab.

  2. Select the relevant Decision Name that you want to explain. The case type associated with the decision will be Plan Change.

Note: This will open a new tab.

  1. From the Sub-Decisions table, select the Decision Name.

  2. Select the Justification Number hyperlink from the Justifications table.

  1. On the Details tab, use the information in the Justification and Description to explain the decision on the plan change request. Note: You’re unable to add an explanation to a justification once it has been created.

3.2.1 Record the plan change decision explanation

  1. In the Justification on the sub-decision, select the Details tab.

  2. Select the Case hyperlink to go to the case associated with the decision.

  3. Add an activity or internal note about what was discussed with the participant or authorised representative. Refer to article Log an activity or internal note.

Note: An internal note or activity can be added to a case at any stage, even if the case is closed.
